February 25, 2010 HW

1. Complete exercise 3 on p. 438 in Writer's Choice.

2. Make a total of two comments on other students' essays on the wiki. If you made a comment in class today, you only need to make one more comment.

By three tomorrow, I should have been able to make a comment on everyone's essay on the wiki. Use the comments from me and from your classmates to help you edit and revise your writing. The final copy of your essay is due on Monday in class (even if we have a snow day tomorrow). Papers should be stapled in the following order:
1. Final copy of the essay, copied and pasted from the wiki onto a word document, adjusted for presentation (font, size, paragraphs, etc.)
2. Assignment sheet with the brainstorming at the bottom.
3. Comparison chart.

February 24, 2010 HW

Some students had no problem at all completing their drafts on the wiki, while others had numerous problems. Kudos to all of you, though, for the Plan B's that you all came up with! Here are some helpful hints when working with technology:

1. Always type in a word document first and save it. This way if the wiki won't save your work, you will already have a completed copy that you can paste on at a later time.
2. The wiki doesn't like Firefox (I'm not sure why it's so picky, but it is) so try using Explorer or Safari to access the wiki.
3. If you cannot paste to the wiki, save the word document and e-mail it to yourself (or to me) and you can paste it to the wiki when you get to class.
4. If all else fails, send me an e-mail and we can troubleshoot.

For tonight, you should be revising and editing your essay. If you were unable to post to the wiki last night, your first job is to complete the essay tonight and try the tips above to post.
